The Manhattan College School of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and chemical engineering, and graduate programs in environmental engineering and construction management. The School of Engineering maintains a high return on investments, with more than 90% of students finding employment or enrolling in graduate school within a year of graduation. The School of Engineering is also Manhattan College’s largest school, with an undergraduate enrollment of over 900 students and a graduate enrollment of almost 200 students.

Nestled in the historic Riverdale neighborhood of The Bronx, Manhattan College is an independent Lasallian Catholic institution established in 1853 that embraces qualified men and women of all faiths, cultures, and traditions. It has a long and distinguished history of instilling in students the knowledge, skills, and wisdom necessary for successful lives of authenticity and meaning. With more than 2,700 undergraduate students and more than 500 graduate students across three schools, the College pairs hands-on, technical education for an evolving world with a classic liberal arts and sciences foundation.

Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean will lead efforts at developing industry pipeline programs, including a coop program; ensuring strong curricula focused on developing career-ready graduates; and providing leadership for the development of programs and curricula aligned with industry needs. They will be responsible for driving the vision for the School of Engineering and fostering a collaborative environment across departments in Engineering and across the other Schools at Manhattan College. The successful applicant will require a commitment to the Lasallian mission of practical education and a deep understanding of the unique needs and opportunities of an engineering program within a liberal arts and sciences framework.

Responsible for ensuring the continuation of the exceptional reputation of the School of Engineering, the dean is expected to provide a broad industry-focused vision for the engineering disciplines within the context of the College’s tradition, which places special emphasis on values-based education and on learning that engages and encourages students to cross traditional boundaries, exploring connections among the liberal arts and sciences, health professions, education, and business. 

The Dean will represent the school’s academic programs effectively to the public, media, alumni/ae, donors, regulators, ABET, and the Manhattan College Board of Trustees, and fundraise for the School of Engineering. The dean will also develop and foster relationships with engineering firms in the city and region, be actively involved in professional organizations, and/or hold leadership roles in professional organizations.
