Research MRI Technologist

We are seeking a Research MRI Technologist in the Cardiology research department. The successful candidate will report to the Lab Director or Manager and perform various clinical research studies in the capacity of both a technologist and analyst, particularly of the cardiovascular system, for multi-center research studies.



Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform research magnetic resonance imaging scans and ensure safety and compliance are followed.Keeps abreast of current practices and applications of MRI.Coding, evaluation, and interpretation of collected data of research MRI exams.Identify problems and/or inconsistencies related to the MRIs, which will include documentation and reporting of adverse events.Communicate and coordinate with research teams for scanning needs and help transfer MRI data to researchers.Test MRI protocol and perform simple debugging of problems and programming of sequences.Perform analysis and interpretation of MRI data.Collaborating and preparing oral presentations and/or written manuscripts/reports and analyses setting forth progress, trends, and appropriate interpretation of results.Assists in the coordination and the development of study forms, questionnaires, and the application of research techniques.Assist in writing manuals for data collections and coding.Review journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies.Assure compliance of general and study-specific regulatory related processes with SOPs, FDA, NIH, IRB approval (consent and privacy authorization form) and applicable regulations for the reporting of events to regulatory agencies.Oversee quality control activities within the department as well as satellite locations.Work closely with sponsor and study personnel on relevant issues.Record keeping and database management for fellows and faculty publications.Provide regular updates to Director or Manager on issues progresses, and suggestions.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program.
  • ARRT certified with current registration required.
  • CPR certification required within three months of employment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge including advanced MRI imaging techniques.
  • Familiarity with MRI equipment in terms for hardware used in the acquisition of clinical data but particularly in special procedures used for research.
