Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Qualifications:
Required Education and Licensure:
- A bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A valid Wisconsin teaching license with a Special Education Certification (specific certifications may vary depending on the student population, such as Cross-Categorical, Early Childhood Special Education, or Emotional Behavioral Disabilities).
- Successful completion of required Praxis or edTPA assessments for licensure in Wisconsin.
Additional Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of state and federal special education laws.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and adaptive tools to support student learning.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and create a safe, inclusive environment.
- Current background checks and clearances as required by Wisconsin law.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working with students in a school-based setting.
- Certification in specialized areas, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders or Learning Disabilities.
Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver specialized instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to meet goals.
- Facilitate effective communication with families to provide updates on student performance and development.
- Support students with behavioral and emotional challenges using positive reinforcement and evidence-based strategies.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
- Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices in special education.
