Department Summary

Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing financial guidance and assistance within the guidelines of regulatory requirements. Through educational endeavors and student outreach, FAS remains a vital contributor to UNT’s enrollment success.

Position Overview

This position will serve as the Associate Director of Financial Aid over the areas of financial aid reporting, data analysis, and development of quality controls. Position will be responsible for completing federal, state, and institutional financial aid reporting, data validation, and data analysis. The position will work directly with internal and external campus partners to develop effective quality controls and ensure the accurate, compliant, and effective use of financial aid data.

Position will possess a high level of understanding of federal and state rules and regulations and institutional policy and procedures regarding the administration of financial aid as well as a high level of understanding of the technology utilized by the financial aid office. Position will report to the Associate Vice President over Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS), serve on the FAS Leadership Team, and directly supervise a team (2 FTE) tasked with maintaining effective quality controls and the effective and compliant processing of special aid programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years' of closely related professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience in higher education and the administration of financial aid programs.
  • Prior experience in data analysis and reporting, preferably financial aid related.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional student aid policy.
  • Excellent analytical and business process development skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and six years of related experience. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.

Job Duties:

  • Complete accurate and timely federal, state, and institutional financial aid reporting (e.g., FADS, IPEDS, CDS, LBB metrics, quality controls, internal and external data requests).
  • Query, validate, and analysis data related to the awarding of federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
  • Supervise team (2 FTE) tasked with the development and maintenance of quality controls, financial aid form development and maintenance, the administration of special programs (e.g., aid administration for consortium agreements, Comprehensive Transition Programs, and TEACH), and the effective and complaint processing of emergency and support aid programs.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external campus partners regarding reporting, data needs, and the development of best business practices.
  • Maintain financial aid reporting policy, procedures, and documentation. Create and maintain reporting calendar to include financial aid and campus partner reporting requirements.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM, with occasional nights/weekends.
