Job Description

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach introductory math courses to health science majors (premed, pharmacy, nursing, etc.) for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2024 - Spring 2025). Possible courses include Algebra and Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus I; all are taught as face-to-face, in-person courses. Successful candidates will have at least one year of experience teaching math at the college level.

  • Delivers engaging didactic instruction in face-to-face, in-person classesProvides engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of concepts coveredProvides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteriaSupports incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculum, as well as co-curricular experiences, to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of health disparitiesUses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with studentsAdvises and assists students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
Requirements

Required:

  • Advanced degree (masters or above) in mathematics or allied disciplineMinimum of one (1) year of teaching math courses at the college/university levelCommitment to undergraduate student successDemonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environmentExcellent organizational and communication skillsMust be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, and administration/staff)
