Job Summary

This position ensures the prompt and accurate processing of student account payments and departmental deposits under the direct guidance of the Cash Manager. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical and research skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of customers.

Essential Functions

Provide customer service to students, staff and parents as part of the overall customer service team. This includes in person, written and phone communications.Use Peoplesoft Cashiering to process student account payments, departmental deposits, and analyze student accounts. Ensure each transaction is recorded properly and correctly to guarantee accuracy of student accounts and general ledger accounts.Accurately maintain custody of cash and checks processed in order to balance and account for all funds at the end of each business day.Correspond with various departments in person, by email or by phone to facilitate problem resolution if a deposit is incorrect.Maintain an environment of strong internal controls over accuracy, timeliness of recording and securing cash.Review student financial records for accuracy, alerting proper staff to corrections and adjustments as neededCounsel student in financial responsibilities and obligationsPrepare imprest checks for salary advances for employees on campus; release checks through the Bank of America banking system.Perform remote deposit capture scanning of all checks. Review, audit and verify accuracy of scanned check images to ensure these are accurately presented to the bank for electronic processing.Prepare deposits for transport to bank.Accept and apply University and University Without Walls tuition credit forms.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Minimum of one (1) year as a bank teller or similar experience required.Customer service experience, especially with a diverse customer base.Excellent written and communications skills.Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.Knowledge of cash handling procedures and general bookkeeping.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Experience with Excel, Word and other Office products preferred.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical Office Environment.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM.

Salary Information

USA/MTA Non-Exempt Grade 13.
