Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Providescompassionate, prescribed administration of hyperbaric oxygentherapy and/or related testing to HBO patients, safe, effectiveoperation and maintenance of the hyperbaric facility as required byrelated standards, effective communication with other healthcareproviders, patient and/or caregivers regarding a patient’s care,accurate, timely entry and evaluation of patient/treatment data,and leadership for safety training and compliance for facilitypersonnel, coordinates Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Societyaccreditation process and all documentation leading up, and otherfunctions within the Center as required. Acts as Technician“Coordinator” overseeing and coordinating HBO facility andstaff.



Requirements

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:  High schooldiploma or general education degree. Attend approved HBO SafetyDirector Course.  Medical training as exemplified inLicensure/Certifications itemized below.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current certification as Certified HyperbaricTechnologist.  Must also be certified in one of the followingvocations:  Respiratory Therapist, Diver Medic, MedicalServices Specialist, EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, LPN or LVN,Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Chamber Technician/Operator,or Diving Medical Technician. UHMS Approved Safety Director Course(Certification)

SKILLS: 

  • Must have obviousconcern for patient welfare
  • Have soundorganizational skills
  • Ability to analyzedata
  • Read, understand and implementprofessional journals as well as regulatory documents
  • Basic/operable computer skills
  • Ability to perform basic/operable mathematics
  • Possess effective/mature communication skills and beparticularly attentive to detail
  • Must becomfortable overseeing and coordinating HBO staff
  • Ability to read and speak Spanish a plus.

EXPERIENCE:   Hoursrequired to become certified. Previous experience as a SafetyDirector preferred

NATURE OFSUPERVISION:

Responsible to: Director

ENVIRONMENT: Bloodborne PathogenB:

Exposure to infectiousdiseases, bloodborne pathogens and caustic chemicals; occasionalunpredictable physically demanding situations.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

Must be able tohandle emergency/crisis situations as well as move or assist inmoving, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients aswell as equipment or supplies.  Frequent prolonged standingand walking, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching,sometimes in fast-paced environment. Hearing & visual acuitywithin normal limits.
