Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Monroe, Georgia

Position Overview: We are looking for a motivated and caring Special Education Teacher to join our team in Monroe, Georgia. The successful candidate will be committed to providing high-quality education to students with diverse learning needs. The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), work collaboratively with general education teachers and parents, and ensure that all students receive the necessary support to achieve their academic and social goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Perform assessments to identify students' strengths and areas requiring support.
  • Adapt the general education curriculum to address the specific needs of students with disabilities.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods and strategies to facilitate student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to promote an inclusive educational environment.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in small group and one-on-one settings.
  • Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to teaching strategies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, progress, and IEPs.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to remain current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
  • Thorough understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities and learning needs is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various disabilities and special education techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies for students with special needs.
