Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this Business Officer position is to serve as the Contracts and Grants Manager for the Department of Radiology. The position will report to the Director of Business Operations and Strategic Development. They will work closely with their supervisor to manage the pre and post-award administration for the Department’s research portfolio. Position will serve as the primary departmental contact for contracts and grants related matters for faculty, staff, collaborating departments, central offices and funding agencies including federal, state, foundations, industry sponsors and non-profits. This position will actively participate in the development and timely processing of all contracts, grants, subawards and clinical research agreements through appropriate application channels on campus. Position will assist in the setup of new research awards as well as subsequent funding years as necessary. Position will monitor post-award financial activities including expenditures, budget revisions and personnel changes as necessary to ensure these activities are in compliance with agency guidelines.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Entry-level with Masters; or Bachelors and 0-2 yrs experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Applicants must have a strong background in financial management, business administration, and the ability to independently analyze and resolve issues and problems. Applicants must be able to effectively communicate and feel comfortable with public speaking. Applicants must be proficient with Excel and other financial management tools.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Prefer candidates with strong background in contracts and grants, finance, financial reporting, and managerial experience. Experience working in a clinical department/area and at a university level is preferred. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have experience with UNC financial systems.
