Professional Tutor, Veterinary Technology

Primary Responsibility
This position facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling the use of appropriate study strategies.
This position will assist with tutoring needs in Microbiology, animal handling and restraint labs, clinical pathology, animal anatomy, and physiology labs, as well as all other veterinary technology classes.
The hiring pay rate is $23.94 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
*This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position. Examples may include a: Associate’s degree in the area of tutoring or a closely related area. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A grade of B or higher in all course(s) and/or academic subject areas for which tutoring services will be offered. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all post-secondary course work. Experience in the field: Teaching/tutoring experience, particularly in post-secondary courses, preferred. Other relevant work experience that demonstrates either knowledge of the content or the ability to work with students or the ability to communicate ideas effectively. Individuals with Associate’s degree in career and technical fields would be considered equivalent education. Or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

Exhibit exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism. Minimum Qualifications:Essential Duties
Meet with assigned tutees in designated or pre-approved areas.
Consult with tutees instructors or SSS Coordinator for advice, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work.
Conduct in person or online tutoring sessions as needed/appropriate.
Inform and/or consult with the SSS Coordinator if problems are encountered.
Work cooperatively with SSS staff to deliver a cohesive tutoring program and to respond in a professional manner to diverse student needs.
Respect students’ rights to confidentiality and follow legal guidelines regarding dispersal of information.
Adhere to all tutoring guidelines and participate in tutor training sessions as requested.
Submit weekly reports and bi-weekly time sheets to SSS Coordinator as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
The position reports to a designated supervisor. Position usually works within the framework of responsibilities but may require guidance at times.
Supervisory Responsibility
Position has no supervisory responsibility.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.
Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
