Job Title:

Veterinary Technology Tutor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced tutor to support student learning in veterinary technology courses at Colorado Mountain College.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with assigned tutees to provide individualized support and guidance
  • Consult with instructors or SSS Coordinator for advice and direction
  • Conduct in-person or online tutoring sessions as needed
  • Inform and/or consult with the SSS Coordinator if problems are encountered
  • Work cooperatively with SSS staff to deliver a cohesive tutoring program
  • Respect students' rights to confidentiality and follow legal guidelines
  • Adhere to all tutoring guidelines and participate in tutor training sessions
  • Submit weekly reports and bi-weekly time sheets to SSS Coordinator
Requirements:
  • Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position, including:
  • Associate's degree in the area of tutoring or a closely related area
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A grade of B or higher in all course(s) and/or academic subject areas for which tutoring services will be offered
  • A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all post-secondary course work
  • Experience in the field, including:
  • Teaching/tutoring experience, particularly in post-secondary courses
  • Other relevant work experience that demonstrates either knowledge of the content or the ability to work with students or the ability to communicate ideas effectively
  • Special skills or abilities directly applicable to the position, including:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to interact with a diverse student population
  • Exhibit exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism
  • Organize and prioritize work while exercising flexibility, teamwork, and humor
Working Conditions:

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
