At Banner Desert there will be 2 separate areas this Director role will oversee, The first is Outpatient Observation Unit, a fast-paced environment catering to patients who are projected to need a maximum of 24-hours of care or have the potential to be admitted as an inpatient for further workup. Observation is 55 beds, all private rooms and care for Tele and Med/Surg observation patients. The second is our Tower which is made up of 3 inpatient units 6W/7W which are both PCU inpatient units consisting of male and female patients. 5W is a Women’s only med surg inpatient unit. All three units are 36 beds each with private rooms. Our patients primarily are admitted from the ED but will also have patients come as direct admissions from provider offices for treatment. Our nurses are trained to care for a wide range of diagnoses and care plans including Stroke, cardiac events, post-op care, and many others. Additionally, we have Advance Practice Providers (NP or PA) who are available to direct patient care when needed.

The Director of Nursing role will be responsible for daily operations of our growing Outpatient Observation units as well as the women’s Tower which includes inpatient women only med surg and inpatient tele as at Banner Desert Medical Center. This will include leading, directing, developing, and implementing strategies for clinical care and have budget and financial responsibilities for this Outpatient Observation Unit. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing strategies for growing business and maintaining great relationships with other leaders, and physicians. The RN Director reports to the facility ACNO, and will have 5 Associate Director RNs reporting up to this position. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides strategic leadership and administration in the areas of patient care, education, safety and quality in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position promotes a professional practice environment and develops and maintains collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution to positively impact the business of clinical operations, nursing and patient care outcomes. These partnerships include ongoing collaboration with physician, facility and organizational leaders. Responsibilities include all aspects of clinical operations, clinician and patient/family education, customer service, patient safety, financial outcomes, and quality outcome management and regulatory compliance.
