Job Title: Interim Group Controller
Location: Chicago, IL – 4 days/week on-site
Pay Rate: $95 - $110/hour

Company Overview: Our client, a leading company in the healthcare products sector with approximately $200M in annual revenue, is seeking an Interim Group Controller to manage their financial operations. This role comes in response to the resignation of the current controller and will oversee four divisional controllers. While experience in the healthcare industry is not required, a robust background in financial management and leadership is essential.
Position Summary: The Interim Group Controller will assume a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s financial activities. This includes managing the financial reporting process, supporting data requests for a sales process, and ensuring the continued smooth operation of the financial department. The role demands a proactive leader to maintain financial stability and drive operational excellence during the transition period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight: Manage and supervise financial operations across multiple divisions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and compliance.
- Team Management: Direct and support four divisional controllers, providing guidance and ensuring consistency in financial practices and reporting.
- Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, reports, and analyses. Ensure timely reporting and accurate data for internal and external stakeholders.
- Data Management: Handle data requests related to a sales process, including preparing and analyzing financial information needed for transactions or strategic initiatives.
- Compliance & Controls: Maintain adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements. Conduct reviews to ensure compliance and recommend improvements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support strategic planning.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary contact for financial matters, addressing inquiries and collaborating with senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience: 8-12+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with financial management software and ERP systems is a plus.
- Industry Experience: While healthcare industry experience is not required, experience in managing financial operations within a complex, multi-divisional organization is advantageous.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:
- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
- licensure and certification requirements;
- office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
