Accountants, don’t get lost in the numbers Our client has an immediate opportunity for an Interim Staff Accountant that can go contract-to-hire. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger through journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts. This role will also involve assisting in the development and implementation of internal accounting controls and procedures.

As the Interim Staff Accountant your typical responsibilities will be to:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and conducting thorough analysis of financial statements and accounts.
  • Provide guidance to other departments on the correct handling of accounting transactions, offering support and advice on accounting procedures.
  • Prepare detailed financial and informational reports for management review and internal/external purposes.
  • Review, research, and resolve variances in financial data with minimal supervision, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
  • Oversee fixed assets and inventory transactions, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting, identifying discrepancies, and recommending process improvements.
  • Manage the accounting for capital asset acquisitions and disposals using the fixed asset program/module, and track associated CIP projects, ensuring reconciliation between the fixed asset database and the general ledger.
  • Facilitate the disposal of capital assets or inventory items through sale, transfer, or destruction, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Analyze financial statements, coordinate budget preparation and administration, and review administrative and accounting procedures.
  • Assist in designing and implementing new financial accounting systems or programs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
What You'll Need to Be a Top Candidate
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field from a four-year institution. The bachelor's degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position, and cannot be waived.
  • Certifications: Certified Management Accountant (CMA)  or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be bonus.
  • Required Experience: 1+ years’ experience as a Staff Accountant  
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial accounting statements, and business trends.
  • Adequate experience with accounting software packages and MS Office; Excel, Word, Access, etc.
  • Ability to work with others in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and management.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, performs work independently without being prompted.
  • Proper oral and written communication with both financial and non-financial individuals.
  • Exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail. Completes all administrative tasks in assigned times (required)
