Job Description: School Psychologist
Location: Signal Mountain, Tennessee
Position Overview: We are searching for a motivated and skilled School Psychologist to join our team in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. The successful candidate will provide a wide range of psychological services to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. The School Psychologist will collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs and develop effective interventions.
- Provide individual and group counseling to help students overcome academic, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss assessment findings and coordinate intervention strategies.
- Offer consultation and support to teachers, parents, and school staff on issues related to learning, behavior, and mental health.
- Develop and facilitate professional development sessions on topics such as mental health, behavioral interventions, and effective teaching strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school psychology and education.
Qualifications:
- Masters or Specialist degree in School Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Tennessee Professional School Service Personnel License with a School Psychology endorsement.
- National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP) is preferred.
- Experience working in a K-12 educational setting as a School Psychologist is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychological assessment tools, intervention strategies, and special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of people.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Valid Tennessee Professional School Service Personnel License with a School Psychology endorsement.
- Completion of an accredited graduate program in School Psychology.
- Successful completion of a supervised internship in School Psychology.
- Passing scores on the Praxis School Psychologist exam (Test Code: 5402) or other state-approved assessments.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the ethical standards set by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
