Position Summary

  • Responsible for day-to-day logistics and implementation related to workforce development initiatives, course and curriculum creation or procurement, trainer and supplier management, data acquisition, processing, and management, and other solutions-oriented activities.

  • Engage directly with business/industry leaders in all sectors to successfully build a trained and effective workforce.

  • Lead a team of direct reports to seek out and provide solutions, logistical support for work-based, employer-driven, earn-and-learn programs, workforce development initiatives and job pipeline opportunities, apprenticeship development/implementation, and other deliverables.

  • Build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across business/industry sectors and the College to create advantageous and prosperous opportunities for workforce development initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to embrace, understand and implement the purpose and the vision of the College.

  • Experience and oversight developing, implementing, and deploying complex workforce development projects, while working collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Experience managing support and logistics for workforce development and/or continuing education programs.

  • Ability to evaluate complex problems and propose solutions that will maintain the integrity and reputation of the College.

  • Experience with local, state, and/or federal funding agencies and applicable laws/regulations.

  • Experience collecting and maintaining required documentation and data for grant-funded participants.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the workforce development relating to navigation of the organization, gaining alignment, and providing strategic direction to meet the goals of the Dallas College.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree.

  • Five (5) years business management and supervisory/team lead experience.

  • Five (5) years’ experience working with business/industry organizations to advance workforce development strategies (required).

  • Five (5) years extensive experience with and knowledge of internal systems such as (Datatel/Colleague-screens, E-Campus, and Marketplace) (or similar system experience elsewhere).

  • Five (5) years extensive experience leading collaborative teams to execute workflows and work systems that ensure accuracy, reliability, and continuity of operations.

  • Seven (7) years progressive responsibility managing grant-funded workforce development programs and activities.

  • Official transcript will be required.

  • Bilingual preferred.

  • Provide oversight and accountability for operational effectiveness to meet departmental goals to provide customer-focused business solutions customized to customer needs with impeccable quality.

  • Provide solutions by examining operations, identifying necessary tasks to carry out, and complete desired results for College/department initiatives.

  • Improve and sustain the work environment by creating a cohesive team framework to address effectiveness in the functionality of work processes and development of complex projects to ensure and develop/investigate all options to provide business solutions and promote the best interest of the College.

  • Negotiate resolutions for complex team projects by analyzing data, determining the status of business relationships, timelines, and budget and performance goals to come to a solution that best accomplishes successful project completion; assign and delegate tasks that support successful project completion.

  • In partnership with the Schools, ensure courses, programs, certificates, and degrees incorporate industry- and employer-recognized credentials connect to career pathways with family-sustaining wages.

  • Day-to-day management of internal operational systems such as Workday, Datatel/Colleague-screens, E-Campus, and Marketplace systems.

  • Works directly with internal workgroups to create training schedules and assign classes to serve the needs of trainees and workforce partners.

  • Manages department projects related to trainee courses and trainee data.

  • Manages vendor setup and oversees supplier processing for the department.

  • Implements maintains department budget, monitoring expenditures.

  • Promotes departmental projects by serving on task forces and committees within the College and appropriate external stakeholders.

  • Lead collaborative teams for process improvement, execution of workflows and work systems that ensure accuracy, reliability, and continuity of operations.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
