The Senior Technologist performs high complexity testing pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimum supervision. A Senior Technologist actively participates in the department quality programs and adheres to policies and procedures developed for the department.
The work schedule for this position is: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm with rotating weekends

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares cell suspensions and performs cell counts on all specimens designated for immunophenotyping.
- Stains aliquots of cell suspensions with designated panels of fluorescent antibodies for immunophenotyping.
- Operates flow cytometer instruments and acquires the data necessary for all immunophenotyping tests provided by the Flow Cytometry Laboratory.
- Runs daily standard checks for instrument alignment and reagent QC on the flow cytometers.
- Maintains stock and reagent solutions and validates and tests new reagents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology (MT/MLS/CLS), or other Life Science is required
- ASCP or AMT certification (MT/MLS) is required
- Minimum of 6 years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required
- Minimum of 1 year of Flow Cytometry experience is required
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tennessee state Medical Technologist (MT) license is preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
