Job Description: As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students with special needs receive the necessary support and educational services to thrive academically and socially. You will collaborate with a team of educators, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each student's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement IEPs based on students' Individualized Education Programs
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate students with diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Assess students' progress and modify instructional strategies as needed
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in various academic subjects
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other specialists to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and document students' progress and achievements
  • Attend IEP meetings and communicate with parents and caregivers regularly
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant special education laws and regulations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid Illinois teaching certification in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs
