Job Vacancy: Speech-Language Pathologist

Location: Denver, Colorado

Position Summary: Denver Public Schools is seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic team. The SLP will be responsible for identifying and treating students with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. This role involves creating and executing individualized therapy plans, collaborating with educators and families, and contributing to the overall success and well-being of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed evaluations to diagnose speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in students.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs.
  • Provide direct therapeutic services in diverse educational settings, including individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Work closely with teachers, school staff, and families to integrate speech and language goals into daily classroom activities and support student progress.
  • Maintain precise and confidential records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions to support student development.
  • Provide guidance and training to educators and parents on strategies to foster communication skills and support student learning.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in speech-language pathology through ongoing professional development.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider license with a Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • In-depth knowledge of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and other school staff.
  • Commitment to professional growth and adherence to best practices in speech-language pathology.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider license with a Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting as required by Denver Public Schools.
