Transdev Services, Inc., isseeking a Utility Worker at its Lorton, VAfacility.

 

 

The Utility Worker will handle basic shopduties. They will also perform detail cleaning and fueling ofequipment with limited supervision. Additionally, they will beasked to complete basic forms and fare box duties (i.e.,diagnostic, repair, installation).

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provides support to theMaintenance Department and Technicians (e.g., vehicle washing,vehicle fueling, vehicle seat repair, fluid checks, etc.) inaccordance with established schedules.
  2. Perform such cleaning duties as sweeping,mopping of floors, and vacuuming of seats and upholstery usingappropriate cleaning equipment.
  3. Clean windows, mirrors, and interiorglass.
  4. Empty trashfrom vehicles.
  5. Reportdamage, malfunctions and other irregularities of the vehicle toUtility Supervisor.
  6. Turn in lost and found articles, putting themin the lost and found cabinet and recording on the sheet each itemfound. 
  7. Followcompany policy and OSHA safety regulations.
  8. Position and stage vehicles in the parkinglot.
  9. Properly cleanand maintain equipment and work area at the end of eachshift.
  10. Keeps workersstorage and work areas clean at all times.
  11. Responsible and accountable for maintainingservice and repair of cash revenue fare boxes for vehicles at thefacility.
  12. Responsiblefor moving or positioning a variety of equipment.
  13. Will perform basictroubleshooting of farebox system.
  14. Other duties as assigned for the efficientoperation of the facility.

Qualifications:

 

1. High school diploma orequivalent required.

  1. 1-2years relevant experience.
  2. Knowledge of shop safetystandards.
  3. Must havea strong commitment to safety.
  4. Must bewell-organized.
  5. Mustbe able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  6. Must possess a CDLwith passenger endorsement and airbrakes or be able to obtain aCDL.
  7. Must beself-motivated and able to perform without constant or immediatesupervision.
  8. Must beable to work flexible hours or shifts.
  9. Ability to work on ateam.

  • 10% ofwork is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned orwell-ventilated facilities.
  • 90% of work is accomplished outside invarying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work isperformed alone and in remote locations.
  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sitfor up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possiblesloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manualdexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handlematerial weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; abilityto bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing andvision to normal range; verbalcommunication.
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas whileperforming the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust,vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, andother liquids.
  • Mustbe able to travel for company training, meeting or supportmissions.
