Position Overview: We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and committed 4th/5th Grade Teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is a contracted hourly role based in the beautiful city of Charleston, SC. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about inspiring curiosity, fostering critical thinking skills, and supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of upper elementary students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and rigorous lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum expectations for 4th and 5th grade.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of students and promote academic excellence.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student learning and well-being.
  • Communicate proactively with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic goals through conferences, emails, and other means of communication.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with best practices in education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in the state of South Carolina for elementary education (4th/5th grade).
  • Deep understanding of child development, pedagogy, and best practices in upper elementary education.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide support for diverse learners.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.

Contract Details:

  • Position: 4th/5th Grade Teacher (Contracted Hourly)
  • Duration: 2024-2025 school year
  • Hours: To be determined based on school schedule and needs
  • Compensation: Hourly rate commensurate with experience
