In our commitment to student success and well-being, we are seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join our team on a full-time basis for the upcoming school year. This role will primarily focus on serving a caseload of middle school students, including those enrolled in our Autism program.

Position Overview: As a full-time Occupational Therapist at our school, you will play a crucial role in supporting the functional independence and participation of middle school students with diverse needs. Working closely with educators, support staff, and families, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services, empowering students to achieve their academic and developmental goals within our inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' sensory, motor, and functional skills, guiding the development of individualized intervention plans.
  • Implement goal-oriented treatment strategies to address students' unique challenges and enhance their independence in daily activities.
  • Deliver direct occupational therapy services, focusing on areas such as fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual motor integration, and self-care abilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to integrate therapy objectives into students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom activities.
  • Support smooth transitions for students between classrooms, therapy spaces, and other school settings, ensuring continuity of care and skill application.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and assistive technologies to optimize students' engagement and success in academic and social contexts.
  • Provide guidance and training to parents/caregivers on implementing therapeutic strategies at home to reinforce students' progress and independence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions, progress reports, and relevant data in compliance with school policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Possess a valid license to practice Occupational Therapy in Delaware.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Previous experience working with school-aged children, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is highly valued.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrate compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the unique needs and strengths of each student.
