Summary:

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests.  Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc.  The focus of this position will be on plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the following duties. However, it will not be entirely set to this specific skillset.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
  2. Selects gauge and type of sheet metal such as galvanized iron, copper, steel, or aluminum, or nonmetallic material such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications.
  3. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates.
  4. Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
  5. Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form.
  6. Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smoothes surfaces.
  7. Welds, solders, bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products.
  8. Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
  9. Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  10. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints.
  11. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
  12. Repairs and maintains sheet metal products.
  13. Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.

Education and/or Experience:                                                        

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                                              

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Other Skills and Abilities:                                                                 

Ability to operate the following equipment: Hydraulic press brake, hydraulic shear, Vulcan plasma cutting table, Pittsburg machine, TDC machine, Roller machine (three types), Hand break, Bead roller machine, Bead forming machine, Stomp shear, Magna bend, Pin spot machine, Drill press, Band saw, Plasma torch, Track torch, Mig and Tig Welders, Overhead Crane, and Forklift.
