This 18-bed cardiacunit specializes in the care of both cardiac and vascular patients.The typical patient population found in the CCU includes patientswith diagnosis such as chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHFexacerbation, hypertensive emergency, AAA repair, carotidendarterectomy and pulmonary embolism. Our unit is a hybrid unitand consists of acute, intermediate, and intensive level of carepatients. Our nursing staff consists of both tele and ICU nurses.The nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4 when caring for non-ICUpatients and 1:2 (sometimes 1:3) when caring for ICU patients. OurICU nurses may experience a 1:1 patient ratio when handling thehigher acuity patients that are on devices such as CRRT, IABP, andImpella. Our nursing staff works closely with our cardiologists andvascular surgeons along with their teams to provide exceptionalpatient care.
