Marine Superintendent Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee the operational and technical management of our marine fleet. The Marine Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring that vessels operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards. This role requires a strong background in marine operations, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of maritime regulations and best practices.

Marine Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Monitor vessel performance, including fuel efficiency, operational procedures, and crew performance. Implement measures to optimize vessel operations and address any issues that arise.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews and shore-based teams.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair activities, ensuring that vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety and performance.
  • Ensure that vessels comply with all relevant maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture onboard vessels.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, drills, and training to ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that crew members are well-trained in emergency procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of budgets for vessel operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Oversee crew management activities, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that crew members are qualified, well-trained, and comply with certification and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and report on any incidents or accidents involving vessels. 
  • Prepare and review reports on vessel performance, maintenance, safety, and compliance. 

Marine Superintendent Position Requirements

  • Chief Mate License
  • NS-Enterprise
  • Analytical, problem solving, time management, project management and decision-making skills
  • Preferably education and experience as a marine operator
  • Knowledge of operations for the vessel operations
