Euclid Hospital’sEmergency Department (ED) features 16 private beds and a customizedsplit-flow process that allows for expedited patient care andreduced wait times. Caregivers in Euclid Hospital’s EDprovide care toall patient populations and work collaboratively to make eachpatient’s visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Asa RegisteredNurse (RN) Resident, you willparticipate in ayear-long residency program, customized to fit you, yourneeds and yourpace, where you will provide direct nursing care, be paired with acoach that guides you toward success, develop clinical judgement,cultivate excellent communicationskills andacquire complexnursing skills.

Responsibilities:
- Participates in a residencycore curriculum based on their individual learningneeds.
- Provides direct nursing care, alongsidea coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcareorganization.
- Establishes and/or revisespriorities for patient care activities based on the following:acuity of need, patient preference, and resourceavailability.
- Initiates and/or maintainsinterventions to assure continuity of safe/effective care forpatients.
- Responds to data indicating risk toindividual's health and initiates action to correct, reduce, orprevent the risk.
- Seeks supervision,consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely andindependently.
- Complies with establishedhospital/department personnel policies.
- Usescommunication strategies in order to achieve desirableoutcomes.
- Documents in patient's medical recordaccording to established guidelines.
- Otherduties asassigned.
Education:
- Graduate from an accreditedschool of professional nursing.
- BSNpreferred
Certifications:
- Currentstate licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proofof Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA) must be presented upon hire.
- If in aCritical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presentedupon hire or within first year ofemployment.
- Within one year of hire RNs inChildren's Hospital and Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation willachieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) with the exception of the NeonatalIntensive Care Unit RNs who must achieve and maintain NeonatalResuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association(AHA) provider status and RNs in the Special Delivery Unit, whomust achieve and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)through American Heart Association(AHA).
- ONS Chemo/Bio coursecompleted within two years of hire if employed on units where chemois administered.
- If in anAdult/Combined EDs, ACLS upon hire or within one year of beginningwork in the Emergency Department.
- If in an ED,Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe Emergency Department.
- In Dedicated TraumaCenters, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or EmergencyNurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24months of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
- Any registered nurse or advancedpractice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification ordemonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe ofthe facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medicaloncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinicand/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited ClevelandClinicfacility.
Complexityof Work:
- Requires criticalthinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work withminimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in astressful environment and take appropriateaction.
WorkExperience:
- New grad or lessthan one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving fromnon-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting withless than one year current acute direct patient care RNexperience.
PhysicalRequirements:
- Requires fullrange of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manualand finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
- Requires standing and walking forextended periods of time.
- Requires correctedvision and hearing to normal range.
- Requiresworking under stressful conditions and irregularhours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/orbody fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects.
- Physical Demandrequirements are in excess of those for LightWork.
PersonalProtective Equipment:
- Follows StandardPrecautions using personal protective equipment as required forprocedures.
