Summary
The Mount Saint Mary College Residence Life Office serves a diverse on-campus population. The Resident Director assists with the effective management of the residence life program.
Staff Development Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of the orderly operation of an on-campus first-year residence hall housing approximately 150 residents.
- Conduct disciplinary conferences and implement sanctions in accordance with the College’s Code of Conduct.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate a team of Resident Assistants (RAs).
- Assist RAs in creating programming and community development opportunities conducive to their students’ academic and personal success.
- Facilitate weekly 1:1 meetings and RA team meetings.
- Be available, approachable, and accessible within the residence hall to residents and RA team.
On-Call Responsibilities
- Participate in the RD on-call duty rotation as scheduled.
- Document all incidents in a responsible and timely manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and uphold all College and Housing policies and procedures.
- Respond to all emergency situations while on duty, as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate RA training sessions during August and January RA Training.
- Oversee and evaluate residence hall programs, activities, and events.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor and Residence Life Office team meetings.
- Actively participate in Student Affairs Department events, meetings, assignments etc. as required
- Conduct thorough monthly health/safety inspections and closing/opening inspections of building(s).
- Act as liaison between the Residence Life Office and other college offices as needed.
- Maintain daily in-area office hours.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Previous full-time experience in Residence Life/Student Affairs is required.
- Excellent communication skills.
This is a full-time, twelve-month position. Compensation includes a competitive salary, a furnished apartment with utilities, cable, and a meal plan (when school is in session). Comprehensive health insurance plan, 403(b) retirement package, and tuition waiver after one year of continuous employment.
