The goal of theProgressive Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital isto provide individualized, quality nursing care to patientsexperiencing medical-related disease processes. These patientsrequire an intermediate level of care somewhere between that of thegeneral ward and the intensive care unit. Also, specializing inperitoneal dialysis. This unit is used to provide a higher level ofcare for patients deteriorating on a medical surgical unit(“step-up”) or a lower level of care for patients transitioning outof intensive care (“stepdown”). Our 17-bed nursing unit consistsmostly of private rooms with 2 semi private rooms. We offer a warmhealing environment supported by nursing caregivers who specializein care of the intermediary medical and renalpatients.

What to expectduring your residency program: 

  • Asuccess coach will be available 24/7.
  • Weeklycheck-ins to ensure personal and professional goals aremet. 
  • Personal assessments to determineareas for growth and opportunity
  • 10 to 12 weeksof orientation along with 10 residency days throughout the firstyear.

Thisposition is eligible for the Student Loan RepaymentProgram 

For full-time nurses: upto $437.50 per month/lifetime maximum program benefitof $15,750

For part-timenurses: up to $218.75 per month/lifetime maximum programbenefitof $7,500

Responsibilities:

  • Participatesin a residency core curriculum based on their individual learningneeds.
  • Provides directnursing care, alongside a coach, in accordance with establishedpolicies, procedures and protocols of the healthcareorganization.
  • Establishesand/or revises priorities for patient care activities based on thefollowing: acuity of need, patient preference, and resourceavailability.
  • Initiatesand/or maintains interventions to assure continuity ofsafe/effective care forpatients.
  • Responds todata indicating risk to individual's health and initiates action tocorrect, reduce, or prevent therisk.
  • Seekssupervision, consultation, assistance when unable to perform safelyandindependently.
  • Complieswith established hospital/department personnelpolicies.
  • Usescommunication strategies in order to achieve desirableoutcomes.
  • Documents inpatient's medical record according to establishedguidelines.
  • Otherduties asassigned.

Education:

  • Graduatefrom an accredited school of professionalnursing.
  • BSNpreferred.

Certifications:

  • Currentstate licensure as a Registered Nurse(RN).
  • Basic LifeSupport (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA).
  • If in an ED,Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe EmergencyDepartment.
  • ACLSrequired with in first year of hiredate.

ComplexityofWork:

  • Requirescritical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to workwith minimalsupervision.
  • Must beable to work in a stressful environment and take appropriateaction.

WorkExperience:

  • Newgrad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RNmoving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatientsetting with less than one year current acute direct patient careRNexperience.

PhysicalRequirements:

  • Requiresfull range of body motion including handling and lifting patient,manual and finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
  • Requiresstanding and walking for extended periods oftime.
  • Requirescorrected vision and hearing to normalrange.
  • Requiresworking under stressful conditions and irregularhours.
  • Exposure tocommunicable diseases and/or bodyfluids.
  • Medium Work -Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10pounds of force constantly to moveobjects.
  • PhysicalDemand requirements are in excess of those for LightWork.
