Medical Billing Specialist

Position Summary: This position is responsible for accurately processing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies and managing the revenue cycle for our healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify patient documentation, medical records, and insurance information to ensure accurate claim submission
  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies using proper medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Follow up on denied or delayed claims and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding billing inquiries
  • Monitor accounts receivable and identify opportunities to improve collection rates
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree in medical billing/coding or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of medical billing experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and Microsoft Office
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
