We are seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to assist in the management of the accounting operations on a part-time basis (approximately 20hrs/week). The ideal candidate will handle the review, reconciliation, and preparation of workpapers aligned with the trial balance. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Review and Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive reviews of financial statements, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and accurately reflect the trial balance.
  • Workpapers Preparation: Develop and maintain workpapers that support account balances and transactions.
  • Investment Management: Oversee and reconcile investment accounts, ensuring precise reporting of investment activities. Track and report on investment performance, including gains, losses, and income.
  • Excess Insurance: Reconcile excess insurance premiums and claims, ensuring accurate accounting for all related transactions.
  • Reserves Tracking: Monitor and reconcile reserve balances, ensuring accurate reflection in financial statements and reports.
  • Asset Management: Maintain and reconcile asset schedules, ensuring proper accounting and reporting of all assets.
  • Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices adhere to relevant regulations and standards. Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to the worker's compensation fund.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other fund-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a worker’s compensation or insurance environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Pay Transparency Notice

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;
  • other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
