Job Description

This full-time, unclassified position coordinates:
          1) Regional Primary Education (PK5) Cohort (RPEC), and 
          2) Miami University's Teacher Academy Partnership. 

Responsibilities include:
I.    Coordinate the design, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of the Regional Primary Education Cohort (RPEC) program located at the MU's Hamilton campus. 


II.    Coordinate the design, implementation, monitoring, professional development, and ongoing evaluation of Miami University Teacher Academy Partnership to increase recruitment of highly qualified teacher candidates who will enroll in the Department of Teaching, Curriculum and Educational Inquiry (TCE) at Miami University via three options: Oxford-bound students, Regional relocating to Oxford students, and Regional Cohort students. Acts as single point of contact for all information concerning this program and its activities. 


III.    Identify and engage in professional development opportunities that align with and promote the TCE mission and vision within Teacher Academy Partnership schools and other EHS/TCE partner schools (e.g., Urban Cohort schools, Douglass Elementary, TEACh Cincinnati schools) to further deep partnership work within the department and college.

Summary of Duties 
I.    Serve as administrator of Regional Primary Education Cohort 
A.    Implement, establish or identify the policies, priorities, program development, and implementation of the comprehensive Regional Cohort in collaboration with Deans of the Colleges of Education, Health, and Society and College of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences, TCE department chair, and MU faculty.
B.    Measure effectiveness and lead ongoing monitoring of goals and objectives for RPEC. 


II.    Serve as administrator of Miami University Teacher Academy 
A.    Oversee the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the programmatic activities such as the Teacher Academy Symposium, monthly local Teacher Academy facilitator meetings, Teacher Academy high school visits, as well as determining feasibility and implementation of the Summer Immersion Program, Teacher Academy Summer Institute. 
B.    Determine and create new opportunities for Teacher Academy high school students and facilitators aligned with Teacher Academy goals and objectives. 
C.    Network/represent MU in professional organizations/conferences. 


III.    Coordinate with Miami University's Office of Field Placement.
A.    Identify TCE student teaching and field experience placement opportunities by leveraging Teacher Academy Partnership network;
B.    Identify and engage in professional development opportunities that align with and promote the TCE mission and vision.

Minimum Qualifications:
●    Bachelor's degree in education, social work, justice studies or related field;
●    Six months experience engaging with P12 schools, community-based organization or higher education obtained through student teaching, internships, summer employment or teaching.


Consideration may be given to candidates with a Master's degree in education, social work, justice studies or related field; 2 or more years' experience teaching in P12 schools; experience providing professional development to P12 schools; experience working with teacher academies; 2 or more years' experience working via teaching, administration, or graduate assistantship in higher education; experience making connections between P12 schools, community organizations, and/or institutions of higher education; experience with grant writing or seeking external funding.
