Job Description:


Raritan Valley Community College's Heath Science Education Department is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Ophthalmic Science - OPTH 290 - Internship course. This course is a clinical experience in which the student is placed in an optician's practice. Specific evaluations of student objectives are conducted in a weekly consultation with the Program Coordinator. In addition, lecture topics will include refraction, business concepts and current technology. The instructor should have knowledge of the following:


  • Demonstrate ophthalmic clinical, laboratory and business operations.
  • Ability to explain interpersonal skills and patient relations.
  • Understanding of advances in frame, lens and equipment technology
  • Relate laws and regulations of opticianry in the state of NJ.


Requirements:


Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Ophthalmic Science.


Licensed Optician in the state of New Jersey.


Previous teaching experience.


Familiar with Canvas online platform.
