School-based Occupational Therapist

Calling on Occupational Therapists who want to support students with exceptional needs Soliant is working with a Special Education school in Washington, D.C., and is seeking a contract OT for the upcoming year.

The school is a specialized school for children, teens and young adults, aged 3-21, with intellectual disabilities. With a focus on life skills and vocational training, this is a good program for hands-on OTs who want to see a more well-rounded application of their clinical expertise.

Qualifications to be a traveler:

  • Will you arrange temporary housing while on assignment, while maintaining another home address?
  • Will you be commuting 75+ miles to work?

If so, you qualify for housing and/or meals stipends

Details of contract:

  • Year round contract
  • 35 hours in a typical work week

Scope of duties:

  • Evaluate ways in which occupational therapy can support education plans, and meet students at the level they are at, in areas such as: fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, and sensory and motor activities.
  • Plan, implement and track therapy/activities
  • Attend periodic meetings with interdisciplinary team to either propose IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) goals or IEP goalsor adjust current goals
  • Consult with parents and caregivers, and provide additional resources or tips to help them better support their children's skills for daily living

Requirements:

  • District of Columbia OT license
  • Prior experience in with special schools a PLUS
