Two Six Technologies is looking to add a Lead Software Engineer to our team building a next generation global-scale networking situational awareness and command and control platform. In this role you would be working with our back-end development team to both refactor existing server code in production and design and develop new code modules and microservices. The candidate should have a track record demonstrating the ability to research new technologies, document and propose designs to team members, quickly prototype solutions, and, ultimately, produce dependable and testable commercial-grade code. This position focuses on back-end development in Python 3 (Go experience is also desired) with SQL and NoSQL databases, various communication technologies (message queues, event streams like Kafka, etc.), and various API architectures such as REST and gRPC.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and maintaining new back-end code modules and microservices to provide a variety of functionality  (authentication, data transformation and querying, etc.) for software platforms
  • Developing and maintaining API handlers with a variety of technologies (gRPC, REST, etc.)
  • Developing and maintaining integrations with a variety of SQL and NoSQL (Elastic, Redis, etc.) databases
  • Working with the team to come up with dynamically scalable and parallelizable solutions
  • Working with team to continuously refactor existing back-end code for scalability and usability
  • Writing and maintaining documentation
  • Taking initiative to rapidly prototype new solutions to changing problem sets
  • Present and collaborate on possible solutions with team members 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Python 3 development
  • Minimum 5 years experience engineering systems with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with API development
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior engineers
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance or higher

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience with Python packages: FastAPI, requests, asyncio, flask, Tornado, or similar
  • Experience with Golang
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch
  • Experience in React or Vue 3
  • Experience with gRPC development
  • Experience architecting for deployment to cloud environments such as AWS or MS Azure as well as bare metal
  • Experience with automated test development and frameworks
  • Docker and/or Kubernetes experience
  • Experience using Jira in a development workflow
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience working in a hybrid environment
  • Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

Location:

  • If not located in Arlington or Augusta, must be willing to travel up to 50% time as required by the project/team/customer

Citizenship and Clearance:

  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a government security clearance up to TS/SCI
