Position Overview:  We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including the creation and management of macros. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with applicable regulations, and maintaining the integrity of payroll data.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process payrolls for all employees, ensuring timely and correct payment of wages, salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Data Management: Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, salary changes, deductions, and benefits.
  • Excel Expertise: Utilize advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, to analyze payroll data and generate reports.
  • Macro Development: Create, maintain, and troubleshoot Excel macros to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure payroll processing complies with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings, garnishments, and other deductions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and distribute regular payroll reports to management, including detailed summaries, variance analyses, and trend reports.
  • Auditing: Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Customer Service: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, resolve discrepancies, and provide exceptional support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, implement best practices, and participate in payroll system upgrades or changes.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, with a focus on using Excel and macros.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and macro creation.
    • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to employees at all levels.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Paycor.
Knowledge of state-specific payroll regulations.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
