Network Security Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a systems security and network security engineer, you can identify the security system needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to lead the development and implementation of security solutions that will protect our military.

On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of networks and security. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your knowledge and experience in Tenable ACAS, you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.

In this role, you’ll closely impact DoD customers by securing our nation's critical infrastructure. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas, and leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

  • Implement infrastructure and cybersecurity controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.

  • Other related duties, as assigned.

You Have:

  • Experience with Information Assurance (IA) or Network Security Engineering

  • Experience with privileged and elevated access operating, maintaining, and patching a DoD Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Tenable Security Center environment

  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and performing timely remediation

  • Experience with vulnerability remediation, prioritization, and risk assessment and performing Nessus and ACAS Vulnerability scans

  • Experience with Windows Server or Linux, including RHEL or Ubuntu

  • Knowledge of interconnected network systems, basic network security principals, and well-known ports and protocols

  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, Network Engineering, or Computer Science or 2+ years of experience with performing network security in lieu of a degree

  • Security+ Certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM)

  • Experience with CVEs and application security

  • Experience with data governance

  • Experience with scripting in PowerShell and BASH command line interfaces

  • Knowledge of the system reaccreditation or the DoD RMF process

  • Knowledge of cyber tools, including Splunk, Microsoft Defender Endpoint, HBSS, McAfee ePo, ESS, and RedSeal

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $67,700.00 to $154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
