Physician (Primary Care) - Occupational Health Supervisor

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

A summary of the duties is mentioned below but not limited to:
Providing occupational health services at the Gainesville VAMC, Lake City VAMC and/or Jacksonville OPC to all NFSG VA HCS employees.
Assessing, diagnosing, and treating work related injury or illness with an ongoing emphasis on planning and evaluating strategies for prevention and risk reduction.
Providing limited primary care for non-work related illnesses such as blood pressure checks, smoking cessation interventions, or brief counseling on stress management to enable the employee to remain on the job, if possible, and to reduce the risk of spreading communicable diseases to other staff and/or patients.
Conducting pre-placement physicals to determine potential employees' fitness for duty, completing fitness for duty exams on existing employees, and making recommendations to Human Resources regarding the need for restrictions or accommodations.
Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to provide quality care, patient education, participate in research activities, and assist employees in acute and chronic rehabilitation techniques.
Conducting comprehensive histories and physicals, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, initiating and adjusting therapeutic regimens, initiating consults and referrals, prescribing medications, and serving as a Medical Review Officer (MRO).
Serving on NFSG VA HCS, VISN, and/or national committees and assisting in thedevelopment, evaluation, and communication of occupational health related policies and standards in accordance with VHA directives, NFSG VA HCS policies, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), US Department of Labor Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP), State regulations, and any other applicable rules or regulations.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
