They are expanding their team and looking to add a Men’s Bottoms Designer.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$90k – $100k Depending on experience
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Men’s Bottoms Designer who is proficient in creating detailed tech packs to join our client’s dynamic Design team. The ideal Men’s Bottoms Designer will have a strong understanding of menswear design, particularly in bottoms (jeans, chinos, shorts, etc.), and will be able to translate their creative vision into technical specifications for production.
Responsibilities of the Men’s Bottoms Designer:
Design Development: Create innovative and trend-right designs for men’s bottoms that align with the company’s brand aesthetic. Conduct market research to stay abreast of current trends, fabrications, and techniques in men’s fashion. Develop sketches, mood boards, and presentations to communicate design concepts.
Technical Design: Produce detailed tech packs including specifications, construction details, and bill of materials for each design. Collaborate with pattern makers, sample makers, and Production teams to ensure accurate translation of designs from concept to final product. Review and approve samples, providing clear and constructive feedback for revisions.
Fabric and Trim Selection: Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and finishes that enhance the design and uphold the quality standards of the brand. Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to secure the best materials within budget constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Merchandising and Marketing teams to ensure designs meet commercial objectives and resonate with the target customer. Collaborate with the Production team to troubleshoot any design-related issues that arise during manufacturing.
Trend and Competitive Analysis: Monitor the competitive landscape and analyze consumer trends to inform and inspire new designs. Continuously seek out and apply new techniques and technologies in garment construction.
Qualifications for the Men’s Bottoms Designer:
Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in men’s bottoms design, preferably with a heritage brand.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and other design software.
Strong technical design skills with proven experience creating comprehensive tech packs.
Excellent understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabrication.
Creative vision with a strong sense of fashion trends and market demands.
Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for the company’s fashion and lifestyle.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field is required.
