Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions is looking for a qualified Welder to assist the fabrication teams at its Norfolk, VA Service Center. This position involves working on a team responsible for the manufacture and upkeep of several permanent and mobilespecialized water purification systems.

Responsibilities and Job Functions

The Welder/Pipe Fitter is responsible for fitting,welding and polishing work assigned by the Shop Lead or Fabrication Manager. The welder will fabricate, weld pipe, and various metals to support the production and manufacturing of specialized water treatment equipment.
Welds stainless steel piping using GTAW.Welds bracing using (predominantly) GTAW, (rarely) SMAW, GMAW and other methods as required.Fabricates parts to build specialized equipment.Ensures welds are made to specification.Reads blueprints to facilitate the building of specialized equipment.Cuts various materials using saw, torch, plasma and other methods.Layout,fit, weld and finish components per drawing.Ability to work in a team environment.
Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
High School Diploma / GED or technical degree is preferred.Minimum of 2 years of work-related experience with fabrication (fit up and welding) of metal piping, frames and braces.AWS or ASME certifications preferred.Experience with GTAW and GTAW welding processes.Experience in stainless steel manufacturing preferred.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Capable of performing physical acts such as lifting, climbing and manual dexterityMust be certified in forklift operation within 90 days of employmentMust have minimum welding tools-shield, gloves, leathers, basic tools
Desired Characteristics:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in pipefitting, fabrication, and operation of drill press, belt sander, band saw, ironworker and bench grinderExperience in reading P&IDsAWS or ASME Welding certificationKnowledgeable and committed to Environmental, Health & Safety practicesKnowledge of basic inventory control conceptsKnowledge of basic quality control conceptsExcellent communication skillsDiligentCustomer focusTeamworkAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,diagram, or schedule form.
