St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Director of Accessibility Services/ADA Coordinator, which is responsible for leading the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) and overseeing the delivery of accommodations and support services to students with a range of disabilities. These disabilities may include, but are not limited to, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety/depression, physical and sensory disabilities, chronic illnesses, and assorted learning disorders.  The Director of Accessibility Services/ADA Coordinator provides both initial assessment and ongoing monitoring of appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504.  The Director of Accessibility Services/ADA Coordinator will collaborate with appropriate faculty and staff to facilitate student academic success and works with students to help them adapt to the challenges of college. The Director of Accessibility Services/ADA Coordinator will supervise other staff members and affiliates of OAS. The OAS works with student, faculty, and staff to promote access on our campus.

 

Qualifications:  Master’s degree in disability studies, psychology, social work, special education or a related field preferred. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accessibility support services, counseling, or a related field, preferably in a higher education setting.  Significant experience working with students with disabilities in a secondary or higher education setting. Excellent written oral and interpersonal communication skills.  Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the ADA Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other laws is helpful. Knowledge of and experience with assistive/adaptive and instructional technologies.  Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.  Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
