The Associate Director - Strategy & Partnerships will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives that enable Optum Health Solution's long-term growth strategy. Scope of work includes internal & external market research, competitive intelligence gathering, building business cases for strategic initiatives, and leading roadmap development and execution for supported initiatives. Additionally, the Associate Director may lead partnerships end-to-end with external clinical solutions. Responsibilities include partner identification, relationship management, contracting, integration, go-to-market, and overall partner performance management. This role will engage with multiple stakeholders across the enterprise, delivering best-in class strategic deliverables and partnership solutions that can be leveraged across UnitedHealth Group. This is blue chip work, requiring talent that can challenge enterprise norms, creatively solve challenges we may have never encountered and lead change.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead definition and execution of strategic initiative roadmaps, develop and drive near and long-term strategies that increase business value over time
  • Collaborate with internal leaders and external partners to gain an understanding of their business needs and adapt business strategy, priorities, and business plans accordingly
  • Analyze industry trends, customer needs, competitive threats, expansion opportunities, and internal performance (e.g., financial; operational) in order to enhance existing products and identify new opportunities for the business
  • Develop presentations, documents, and other communications vehicles to explain the new strategies or partnerships, evangelize for its funding/execution, and communicate its successes
  • Demonstrate solid executive leadership presence - must be able to step into senior level meetings to represent the strategy, partnership, and team
  • Lead cross-functional teams through partnerships activities. These may include technology, legal, contracting, operations, product, and implementation
  • Build a robust program for applying client and member insights to innovation and build solutions that include both Optum and Partner products
  • Drive and manage high-quality execution across organizational lines
  • Support sales and account management for key client activities with managed strategies or partners

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, product, or growth roles
  • Senior-level experience working with other leaders, including executives, to manage business performance and strategic direction
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, including creative, technical, and business professionals
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen; proven ability to work effectively with finance teams to secure funding in support of identified strategic goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated innovative, high-energy leader with comfort with ambiguity. Willingness to take risks and learn from failed experiments
  • Demonstrated superior communication (written/verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills. Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to bring concepts from ideation to in-market products
  • Demonstrated ability to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced environment with multiple and changing demands
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity with ease
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a related field from a top-tier program, or demonstrable equivalent
  • Healthcare industry experience

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
