The Director R&D Data Engineering, Data Analytics develops and participates in setting the strategy and tactical direction of the R&D Data Engineering organization to ensure the organization carries out its function effectively and efficiently in alignment with the objectives of the business.  
This leader will set organization goals, ensure that they are met and will be responsible for continuous process improvement of the data engineering processes.  This leader will also manage development, distribution and systems support of software systems, data management, data processing, and logistics for clinical evaluation trials, design verification and other scientific studies.  
Geographic scope of operation and influence is global and cross divisional as needed.

 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
â¢Â Â   Provide overall global divisional direction and leadership for R&D application development and data management function.  Define organizational goals, priorities and activities in support of the Product Development Process objectives.
â¢Â Â   Direct the design, development, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance of the software systems, databases and custom reports to support product development across multiple lines of business.
â¢Â Â   Oversee administration and support of the applications and data management systems developed by this area.  Coordinate with the Information Technology department on all infrastructural and operating system changes and how they might affect systems worldwide.
â¢Â Â   Direct and lead the research and integration of new technologies into R&D processes, applications and systems.  Develop, implement and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of area processes and procedures and reporting systems.
â¢Â Â   Hire and retain a diverse, highly qualified staff and provide ongoing performance feedback. Manage the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring. Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
â¢Â Â   Assess resource needs to assure that the accurate level of support is provided when needed with the competencies needed.  Allocate responsibility and accountability among staff, manage the career development of others, liaise with professional staff and other managers, advise the business on technology related issues and engage in medium-term strategic planning.
â¢Â Â   Breadth of influence and experience is provided pan-Abbott across varying sites and divisions as needed to support product needs or to drive proactive quality improvements.  Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
â¢Â Â   Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
â¢Â Â   Serve as the primary site Management Representative for external regulatory responses, inspections and audits.  Assist in the assessment of the regulatory impact of developed or acquired software for the further validation and verification planning and execution.  Responsible for keeping the company current with the appropriate validated releases.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education
Bachelors Degree (± 16 years)        â     
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
Minimum 5 years experience as a people manager
 
 



The base pay for this position is $164,900.00 â $329,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
