Verbio is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, Maintenance Manager for its production facility in South Bend, IN.

About Verbio
Verbio acquired South Bend Ethanol, LLC, an operating ethanol plant located in South Bend, Indiana. As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio’s second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant. The site will be developed over the next three years incorporating Verbio’s advanced engineering and operating technology practices. Verbio intends to expand and develop the plant into a modern biorefinery at an estimated total investment of $230 million.

Integration of the ethanol production with the RNG production process, unique to the Verbio brand and developed successfully at the company`s facilities in Europe over the past decade, will result in higher efficiencies and improved sustainability. Following commissioning, the production capacity of the plant will be at 85 million gallons of corn ethanol and 2.8 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of RNG per year.

Position Purpose

The Maintenance Manager is a member of the Plant Leadership Team and is responsible for overall direction of all aspects of the maintenance of the facility including safety, reliability, mechanical integrity, capital project management, and planning and scheduling needs.

The role is responsible for managing installations and the repair and upkeep operations of the facility. These duties include maintaining machinery, planning repair activities, and developing preventive maintenance procedures and programs including shutdowns and the direction and development of departmental staff.

Essential Functions
  • Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment.
  • Schedule regular maintenance and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the performance of overall planning and scheduling.
  • Monitor and analyze KPI data to identify areas for improvement and ensure maintenance activities are effectively planned and executed.
  • Supervise and direct staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating their performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations to support professional growth.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Clearly define roles and responsibilities for maintenance staff to ensure clarity and accountability.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Oversee the procurement of maintenance services and negotiate contracts.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for equipment failures and other maintenance-related emergencies.
  • Ensure rapid response to minimize the impact of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Utilize data analysis and predictive maintenance techniques to optimize equipment reliability and performance.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of experience and maintenance management in a refinery/chemical plant
  • High level of understanding of the technical features of mechanical and electrical systems preferred
  • Proficient in CMMS programs preferred
