Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Environmental Project Manager, with a focus on Business Development for immediate employment in our Kansas City or St. Louis, Missouri office. Imagine making a positive impact in your community while working on rewarding projects, such as environmental justice, remediation, or Brownfields projects.

As part of this hybrid (office and remote) role, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience managing client accounts and project portfolios, client engagement for various, sometimes complex, sites, show regulatory and client investigation/remediation project experience, and require a strong focus on health and safety, be detailed orientated, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, and will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance team.

This role includes a business development focus for the Kansas City and St. Louis offices and key client accounts which have a strong potential to expand beyond the Missouri geography, therefore occasional overnight trips may be warranted.

Responsibilities for this position may include the following:

Project Management:

  • Responsible for the overall management of projects and assists in establishing project-specific objectives and policies.
  • Understand site investigation and remediation techniques to drive solutions for our clients.
  • Interacts with existing and potential clients to discuss AECOM service capabilities and expand services provided.
  • Oversees and ensures all facets of a project portfolio are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality control.
  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Supervise the management of all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).
  • Predict resource needs and manage resources effectively.
  • Has decision-making authority and directs other Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks.
  • Manage more complex clients and projects.
  • Consistently deliver profit margins as planned.

Business Development:

  • Works collaboratively with Client Account Manager(s), Practice Area Leaders, and Business Line Leadership to grow profitable backlog and ensure financial success of their respective client program
  • Develops budgets that allow for business development portfolio management, tracking & optimizing wins and bookings, and project oversight
  • Leads capture strategies for key pursuits and major projects within the department, ensures those strategies yield high capture rates, and grows the business and relevant technical capabilities
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in engineering, geology, environmental science or a related field and 6+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management and business development experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
  • This role is subject to a background check and MVR check 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in site investigation, remediation, project management, and business development experience.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience successfully managing environmental projects for various types of clients.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills.
  • Licensed in the State of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, or Ohio (Professional Engineer or Geologist).
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certified (current).
  • PMP certification.
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on time and on budget project delivery.
  • Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and change orders.
