Background/IRC Summary:The International Rescue Committee's (IRC) External Relations (ER) department enables the organization to respond to the worldâs worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Within ER, the Philanthropy team leads the organizationâs work with High-Net-Worth Individuals. We are seeking an ambitious Principal Giving East Manager to join our USA Philanthropy team
Job Overview/Summary: The Manager, Principal Giving East will play a meaningful role in supporting the Principal Giving East team within the Philanthropy team. They will help guide distinct portfolios of high-net-worth donors and prospects and will act in very close collaboration with Principal Giving Officers and leadership to track progress on and implement strategy for some of our most valuable donor relationships.
The Manager will work with assigned Principal Giving Officer(s) to support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for a defined portfolio of IRC prospects and donors. The Manager will monitor and coordinate stewardship reporting requirements, ongoing communication and information management for the Officer's portfolio and will be responsible for updating all activity in donor database. The Manager will also collaborate across the External Relations team to coordinate donor engagement, stewardship, and recognition consistent with donor stewardship plans, and to maintain up-to-date portfolios for assigned Principal Giving Officer(s). The Principal Giving Manager will report to the Associate Director of Principal Giving.This role offers a dynamic growth opportunity for someone eager to advance to front-line fundraising.
Major Responsibilities: â¢ Collaborate with assigned Principal Giving Officer(s) to implement strategies for high-net-worth individual donors and prospects within donor portfolios, bringing in critical revenue for the organization;⢠Draft correspondence that support the Officerâs interactions with portfolio donors or prospects, including general and targeted communications such as letters and contact reports.⢠Coordinate with relevant internal teams to develop communications that support donor strategy such as concept notes, proposals, presentations and reports, from drafts through to final line-editing and formatting of finalized material;⢠Prepare materials, agendas, and briefings for external prospect and donor meetings, and for internal strategy meetings;⢠With the Officer(s), assess expectations and objectives for each donor and prospect within the portfolio, including adhering to stewardship plans and strategies;⢠With the Officer(s), act as the liaison between donors or prospects and field staff, ensuring both parties receive the most critical information and that it is communicated clearly and strategically reflective of its audience;⢠Collaborate closely with Prospect Research and Management teams as well as Analytics and operations staff to co-lead and track the entire donor cycle for Principal Giving.⢠Update the donor database (Salesforce) to maintain portfolio assignments, draft and update giving proposals, request prospect research, monitor report requirements and submissions, track ongoing donor communication and activity as well as additional relationship management duties;⢠Manage information flows between donors and prospects, program staff and Officer(s);⢠Lead and track the internal drafting and approval processes necessary for proposals, reports, and budgets;⢠Support the payments for bank transactions. Ensure completeness of payment documents in compliance with IRC and Donor policies and procedures.⢠Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and IRC program/support staff globally, and⢠Undertake special projects as advised.
Job Requirements: Work Experience: Minimum 3 years previous work experience, preferably gained in a development or fundraising team, non-profit, marketing, or sales team.
Proven Skills and Proficiencies: Minimum:⢠Ability to meet deadlines with quality products. â¢ Strong communications skills including oral, written and presentation skills.⢠Well-developed project management skills with the ability to work on own initiative, accurately to tight deadlines, and to prioritize between conflicting demands;⢠Understanding of the role of written communications in building and maintaining sophisticated individual and institutional relationships;⢠Ability to identify, create, and implement processes necessary to support effective donor relationships;⢠Experience with and knowledge of relevant technologies and tools. with excellent analytical skills combined with the substantiated ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and handle time effectively.⢠Ability to collaborate across teams internally, regardless of distance, and garner support for and complete initiatives effectively;⢠Highly computer literate, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as familiarity with CRM databases, including Salesforce;⢠Ability to respond quickly to changes in short-term work priorities;⢠Ability to analyze and interpret financial data;⢠Dedication to fundraising for international development, humanitarian, human rights, social justice and US immigrant communities;⢠Understanding of the US fundraising marketplace.
Working Environment: This role requires working remotely part-time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.
Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
