Hourly base pay rate is $25.58 - $38.37/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

As a Senior Battery Technician, you will utilize your advanced knowledge of Battery Maintenance and work under the supervision of a production team to work with electric vehicle battery packs to complete requirements from the operator.

Job and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to and modeling of all company policies such as attendance.
  • Follow and model all safety protocol such as wearing proper PPE (Reflective Vest, Steel Toe Shoes or Boots, Approved Respirators, Protective Gloves and Safety Glasses).
  • Serves as master-level Battery Maintenance Technician.
  • Maintains and repairs battery charging equipment.
  • Adds acid or water to obtain specified concentration.
  • Alerts team lead and/or management about difficult issues, patterns or trends.
  • Assembles, installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs batteries within assigned vehicle groups and types.
  • Assists with repair and refurbishment of batteries
  • Attaches charger leads to battery posts or connector and starts charger.
  • Dissembling batteries and battery packs utilizing various tools
  • Ensuring battery fluids are properly mixed and contained.
  • Fills cells with acid solution and determines solution gravity.
  • Finds and recommends ways to improve the team’s efficiency, quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Handles escalated customer and stakeholder requests or issues.
  • Identifies and resolves systemic issues within the team.
  • Monitors workflow processes and develops / recommends areas for improvement.
  • Package and secure battery packs or battery part to prepare for shipping
  • Performs discharge tests, evaluates results and makes necessary repairs.
  • Provide minor diagnostic work to determine root cause of non-working batteries
  • Provide repair to refurbish vehicle batteries for redeployment
  • Provides technical coaching and mentoring for team members
  • Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
  • Removes and dissembles cells and inspects parts to identify defects.
  • Replaces defective parts, reassembles batteries and fuses parts as required.
  • Sort materials
  • Strong knowledge of the company Quality Management System components
  • Utilizes electrical test equipment to confirm batteries are in good working condition after installation.
  • Utilizes test equipment to evaluate battery performance and identify performance issues
  • Washes, cleans and neutralizes batteries.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years’ experience; or 7 years’ experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in related discipline strongly desired.  
  • Experience in the EV Battery industry preferred.

Working Environment

Variable, consisting of both the office environment and the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and sanitary footwear.
