The Dispatcher - Motor Vehicle receives calls for transport services requests and schedules drivers to meet demand in a priority sequence.

  • Maintains contact with drivers regarding their location, estimated arrival/return.
  • Alerts drivers when urgent condition, HAZMAT or radioactive material needs transport.
  • Coordinates receipt of proper permits.
  • Keeps routing direction/map files to ensure driver scheduled pick up and deliveries are expeditious.
  • Ensures permits for loads requiring them are obtained prior to driver picking up load and conveys information to driver.
  • Monitors truck locations and movement through constant phone/radio contact to ensure delays are avoided.
  • Reports and receives direction via radio, email, or cellular phone. 
  • May be assigned to other work centers/tasks during periods of light demand.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience which demonstrates knowledge required to perform duties of position.
  • Must have or be able to obtain licenses/certifications as needed to perform duties.
  • Must have a valid and current state driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of GCSS Army.
  • Must be able to complete paperwork associated with the position as required.
  • Excellent written communications skills
  • Must possess working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications.
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work as required.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must receive training for movement of HAZMAT and radioactive substances to ensure awareness of special permits required as requests for service are called in/received.
  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • May need the ability to obtain and maintain a government Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Position may require travel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
