We are hiring an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist.

The successful candidate will provide EH&S (focusing on environmental) oversight, guidance, competency, and leadership, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and DuPont Corporate Standards. Lead, monitor, audit, and provide consulting for maintaining a proactive Site-specific program to achieve Site EH&S goals and objectives. 

Your Key Responsibilities:

Plant subject matter expert resource for related environmental information on regulatory requirements and permits, as well as site and corporate procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Ensure compliance tasks are completed (EPA and other federal, state, and local requirements applicable to the Plant), including required communications with and reporting to regulatory agencies. Maintain management systems to sustain compliance. Facilitate regulatory agency inspections and associated follow-up activities.
Facilitate the process to submit permits for new projects and renew permits for ongoing operations as required.
Perform the applicable environmental monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant. Oversee programs related to Environmental compliance such as leak detection and repair (LDAR).
Support the maintenance and improvement of the site’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
Lead / participate in environmental related audits, reviews, and improvement projects. Drive strong visibility and engagement with employees.
Coach and/or train teams and individuals on environmental related tasks and activities.
As required, conduct and document investigations and classification of incidents and ensure follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences that are addressed.
Help drive sustainability improvements as a member of the Site Sustainability Team.
Participate in regulatory advocacy efforts through the Virginia Manufacturers Association (VMA)
Submit monthly and quarterly sustainability data for James River Gypsum and Spruance into the corporate xOverTime system.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications:

BS degree in engineering, a related technical field, or other equivalent experience required.
5-10 years of environmental work experience in a manufacturing facility (chemical industry preferred).
ISO 14001 experience preferred.
