Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, General Ledger, the Senior Accountant will be a key member of the EG America Finance team responsible for accounting activities related to the general ledger operations.  General duties include (but are not limited to) preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, analyzing accrual and prepaid trends, and assisting with the month-end allocation process. This position requires proficiency in Excel and general ledger software. Must be organized, detail oriented and comfortable working with large data sets.  Must be able to communicate well and collaborate with other team members.

EG America is a convenience store operator with nearly 1,700 company owned and operated locations across the United States.  EG America’s store support center is located in Westborough, MA.  
 

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

·         Prepare general journal entries

·         Analyze accrual and prepaid trends

·         Reconcile intracompany transactions

·         Create expense analytics to evaluate month-over-month spend

·         Assist with month-end allocation process

·         Reconcile general ledger accounts

·         Maintain process documentation

·         Maintain daily Oracle interfaces and key translation tables

·         Collaborate with non-finance departments/cross-functional teams

·         Identify areas for improvement and assist with implementation, as appropriate

·         Assist with “First-Level-Review” of other team-member deliverables, as assigned

·         Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by manager

The above responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with documented company policies and procedures.  All of the above will be accomplished collaboratively but will also provide opportunities for independent decision-making.

 

Working Relationships:

This position will work closely with all Finance Teams and other key business segments/cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor degree (Accounting), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Preferred Education:
Minimum Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience

Preferred Experience: 
·         Retail industry experience

·         Strong practical knowledge of MS Excel and other Microsoft applications

·         Thorough understanding and application of U.S. GAAP or IFRS

·         Experience with Oracle ERP and reporting tools

·         Strong Analytical and problem solving skills

·         CPA or Master’s track applicants are preferred

Job Benefits

Other Requirements:
Travel: No travel required
Hours & Conditions: The position requires reporting to the office three times per week with an option for a hybrid work schedule for two days per week from a home office. The hybrid work flexibility is up to department managers discretion and requires LST approval.
Physical Requirements: Minimal physical effort required, sitting / standing at computer for long periods of time.  Ability to maneuver and lift up to 10 lbs.
