Summary
The Central Service Technician 2 provides on-site support for the reprocessing of surgical instruments and trays to JHS facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC and AORN standards and JHS goals and policies.
Responsibilities
- Operates all mechanical machinery; cart washers, instrument washers, steam sterilizers, low temp sterilizers, ultrasonic and drying cabinets, within sterile processing. Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments.Â
- Able to performs in all areas of sterile processing including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations.Â
- Able to perform assembly on basic instrument trays.Â
- Reports broken instrumentation.Â
- Supports and adheres to JHS policies and procedures.Â
- Supervises and trains new personnel.Â
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).Â
- Other duties as assigned
Experience
- Generally requires 1 to 3 years of experience in sterile processing.
Education
- High School diploma is required; Bachelor's degree in related field is strongly preferred.
Skill
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.Â
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.Â
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.Â
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.Â
- Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Credentials
- Valid Sterile Processing Technician Certification by CBSPD or IAHCSMM is required. Incumbents hired before November 20, 2019 must complete obtain the required certification by December 31, 2021.
